Mic'd In New Haven - Excerpt from Episode 355: Lieutenant Commander Vernon Geberth

July 25, 2025

If you've ever seen the French Connection, you're familiar with the iconic car scene, the movie came out in 1971. Ironically that same year, Lt. Commander Vernon Geberth, then a detective, lived a real life version of it. Interrupting a midday mob hit involving a heist of diamonds, he not only chased the murderous mobsters through the streets of Little Italy, he had a running gun battle with them to match.

One of the mobsters it turned out he was trading shots with? None other than John Gotti himself. Listen in for one of the wildest stories I've ever heard as told on this exciting Episode 355 of the Mic'd In New Haven Podcast.
